Jeniffer McMackin,

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist 52210

Clinical Director

I believe some of the most meaningful change happens when we feel truly seen, understood, and safe enough to explore the parts of ourselves we often keep hidden. For over 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals, couples, and families heal from painful experiences, deepen their relationships, and reconnect with the strengths already within them.

Meet Jeniffer : Trauma-Informed Psychotherapist & Clinical Director

Life experiences—especially those rooted in trauma, relationships, and our earliest attachments—can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. Sometimes, the patterns that once helped us cope or feel safe can eventually leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Therapy offers an opportunity to understand these patterns with greater compassion and begin creating new possibilities for healing and growth.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is warm, relational, and deeply personalized. I believe that healing happens within the context of a trusting therapeutic relationship—one where you feel genuinely seen, accepted, and understood.

I specialize in trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and attachment-based therapy, helping clients explore not only what they are experiencing today, but also the deeper experiences and relational patterns that may be influencing how they feel, respond, and connect with others.

I integrate EMDR, mindfulness-based interventions, somatic perspectives, and other evidence-based approaches based on each client’s individual needs. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor our work to your unique history, strengths, relationships, and goals.

Together, we may explore how past experiences continue to influence the present, strengthen your ability to navigate difficult emotions, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and the people who matter most to you.

Whether you are healing from trauma, navigating a significant life transition, experiencing relationship difficulties, or simply recognizing that something in your life needs to change, my goal is to help you develop greater insight, resilience, and a deeper connection with yourself.

Experience, Leadership & Training

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Director with more than 18 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to support individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.

I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Vanguard University and have pursued advanced training in trauma recovery, EMDR, psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, and somatic psychotherapy.

In addition to my clinical work, I am a professor at Hope International University, where I have the privilege of educating and mentoring future therapists. I also provide professional workshops and trainings, speak at mental health conferences, and have presented on topics including trauma and human trafficking awareness.

Serving as both a clinician and educator has deepened my belief that effective therapy requires more than clinical knowledge. It requires curiosity, compassion, humility, and a willingness to understand each person within the context of their unique story.

Creating Meaningful, Lasting Change

Therapy is not about becoming someone different. It is about developing a deeper understanding of yourself, healing what continues to hold you back, and reconnecting with the strengths that have been within you all along.

My hope is to create a space where you can slow down, explore your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment, and feel supported as you move toward greater emotional well-being and more meaningful relationships.

It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients during some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of their lives. Whether you are seeking healing, greater self-understanding, stronger relationships, or a new way forward, I would be honored to support you in that process.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Outside of my work as a therapist and educator, I value creativity, connection, and time with the people I love. I enjoy painting, spending time at the beach, and being with my husband, children, and grandchildren. These parts of my life continually remind me of the importance of connection, presence, and finding meaning in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life.
