Meet Doug: Depression, Anxiety & Relationship Therapist in Orange County, California

I believe meaningful healing begins when people feel accepted for who they are today while being supported in creating the changes they want for tomorrow. My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and the belief that lasting growth comes from balancing self-acceptance with intentional change. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions, processing life experiences, and discovering new ways of moving forward.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma, grief, social anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also support clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by the demands of everyday life. Together, we'll work to better understand your experiences, build on your strengths, and develop practical skills that promote resilience, confidence, and emotional well-being.

I believe that every person's emotions, behaviors, and patterns make sense within the context of their life experiences. Rather than focusing on judgment or labels, I help clients gain insight into the factors that have shaped them while developing healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. Therapy is a collaborative process where we'll identify meaningful goals, strengthen coping strategies, and create lasting changes that align with your values.

I have a particular interest in men's mental health and enjoy helping men navigate the unique pressures of work, relationships, fatherhood, identity, and major life transitions. I strive to create an environment where men feel comfortable exploring emotions, improving communication, strengthening relationships, and developing healthier ways of coping.

For couples, I focus on improving communication, strengthening emotional connection, navigating conflict more effectively, and helping partners build healthier, more satisfying relationships based on trust, understanding, and mutual respect.

When working with children and adolescents, I use developmentally appropriate interventions that help young clients build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and develop confidence at home, in school, and in relationships. I also collaborate closely with parents and caregivers, recognizing that family involvement is often an important part of a child's success in therapy.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and personalized. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based approaches to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. Because no two people are alike, I believe therapy should be flexible, collaborative, and responsive to your individual experiences.

CBT helps clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while learning practical strategies to reduce anxiety, depression, stress, and other emotional challenges. DBT complements this work by teaching skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, helping clients respond to difficult situations with greater balance, resilience, and confidence. Together, these approaches provide practical tools that support meaningful, lasting change both inside and outside the therapy room.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, parenting, burnout, or a major life transition, my goal is to help you move beyond simply getting through each day. Together, we'll build greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, practical coping skills, and a stronger sense of purpose so you can create a life that feels more balanced, connected, and fulfilling.
